I'm Debbie,
nice to meet you.
I’m a user interface & experience designer based in Portland, Oregon with 20 years of visual design background. I’m skilled at interface design, interaction design, wireframes, grid systems, typography, style guides and prototypes. In my next role I’d love to be part of a larger company in the product team, and also to be more involved in usability testing and user interviews.
Background
I am experienced in mobile apps, websites (corporate, non-profit, ecommerce), self-serve kiosks and interactive exhibits.
I have agency experience with advertising, identity, brand-building strategies and promotional materials for marketing campaigns in digital and print.
How I got into product design
My career in visual communication design has always been more focused in the multimedia/interactive fields starting with websites, to creating experiences in public spaces, and to mobile apps.
I feel that my shift into product design was very natural since a lot of the skills are transferrable. Regardless of types of practice the goal is always to solve for people and make that experience painless.
What I do outside of work
I am a mountain bike & tennis enthusiast, and a screen-printing & sewing hobbyist. I am a board member of the band department at a high school in Portland as their visual communication specialist and event photographer. I live in Southeast Portland, Oregon with my husband, sixteen year old son, and three young cats—we also have a nineteen year old who lives in Seattle attending college.
